Friday's Letters

Linking up with Ashley today.

Dear New Year, Welcome! It was perfect seeing you in after an evening watching dvds, eating food and then watching the fireworks live from London.  All done whilst sat on the sofa, in my pyjamas and cuddled up to my man! Who needs to be stood out in the cold, dressed up and partying eh?

Dear Flu, it is time to go now! You have been here long enough but still didn't manage to ruin Christmas.  I'd like to be able to walk around without feeling like an old woman and coughing as though I smoke 40 a day! This is also not the time of year to be unable to work out - everyone else is on their health and fitness craze and I am either lying in bed or sprawled on the sofa as walking to the kitchen wears me out! I want to work out!!

Dear Dave, Thank you for being AMAZING and looking after me this Christmas and New Year.  It has been the best and I am looking forward to next year when I am hopefully well and we can do it all over again :)

Dear Megan, It has been lovely snuggling up in bed watching movies, staying in our pjs until lunchtime and not having to rush around over the holidays.  But now it's time to get ready to start school again and get back into a routine.  I know you don't like it and it will be tough but half term holiday is only five weeks away!

Dear Friday, Thank goodness you are here! I know that seems lame as it has only been a two day working week and I've not actually been in work. But I'm glad you are here so that tonight can be a lazy Friday with yummy food and my man to cuddle up with :)

Have a great weekend! :) xx

This and That Thursday

Today I'm linking up with Katie and Jena.

Hooray! My first blog achievement of 2013 is learning how to put a button in a blog post! I'm so pleased!! :) Now I need to figure out what has gone wrong with my blogger and why my image, followers etc are now below my posts and why can't I get them back to a side bar?? Any ideas? Help would be much appreciated!

Today I have also taken down my Christmas decorations, well kinda.  I am normally the one who takes them down as soon as New Years Day is here.  It seems kind of sad to leave them up once Christmas is done and dusted but this year I am kinda sad to take them down.  I was certainly not ready for Christmas to be over and for my man to go back to work yesterday and my house looked all cosy and glitzy with them up. Now it just looks bland and is a reminder that I must get around to decorating! I have left some up though.  Firstly because after being plagued with this flu virus it wiped me out just taking the decorations off the fire place and tree, secondly because I know they should stay up until January 6th.

Being hit with this flu also means that I am off work for another few days. Sigh.  Normally this would be good but most of Christmas has been spent in my pyjamas, no make up and hair pulled back and I am dying to be more glam.  Plus I want to wear these babies that my lovely man bought me for Christmas....

Being at home however has given me extra time with my lovely girl, cuddled up watching movies and meant that Deb over at Walking by Myself was able to pop in for a visit on her way home from Christmas in France and we got to make plans for a night out in a few weeks :)

I'm also spending time looking at  brochures to find the perfect sunny retreat for our holidays this year.  Weather this Christmas has been so depressing...can't we go like now??

I'm fancying here.....

With of course the odd weekend here....

Happy Thursday!!

Katie Did What

December Favourite Things

I have been absent for most of December for various reasons (including my blogger playing up) but hopefully that is all fixed and I'm ready to take on 2013!

Today I'm linking up with the lovely Ashley at Dancing With Ashley for December Favourite Things.
It has been such a busy month jam packed with things to do!

This month has been all about the Christmas lights! I have loved having them up this year. It's been our first Christmas in this house and although there is so much to be done, furniture is mismatched etc, but the Christmas lights have made it so homely and cosy in here especially during the nights.

This year it was Megan's last primary school Christmas concert. It is sad to think this is the last time I would sit through her school nativity and I managed to make it to two out of the three performances. She still seems to small to think that by next Christmas she will be in secondary school (first angel on left).

On her last performance she was determined to be seen!!! So shy and retiring my daughter!

I was so excited when Megan came home to say that her Christmas party coincided with the end of their World War 2 topic and that they were going to celebrate with a VE party!! I had so much fun putting her hair into twists with pretty pink ribbons and dressing her up. Due to her hyper-sensitivity issues she didn't want to wear a collar but I think she looks pretty good!

Six months with my lovely man! We had so much fun this summer and he made Christmas so special this year. For the first time in a long time I've seen how good things can be and am really looking forward to 2013.

My Dad buys my sister and I a new book every Christmas (it's a standing joke that it's his only contribution to the Christmas shopping!). He never disappoints - last year was Mr Darcy's Diaries and this year Death Comes to Pemberley. I'm looking forward to long baths and cosy nights.

I hope you've all had an amazing Christmas aswell. Here's to 2013 and many more favourite things!!

Happy New Year from GB!!

So it's that time of year again to make resolutions for the year ahead. Whilst I'm a firm believer that you can start afresh at any time of the year, January 1st does give us the perfect opportunity to re-evaluate our lives and what we would like to achieve.
Here are a few things that I would like to work towards in 2013....

Continue to eat clean foods but try to eat less meat

Meditate every day

Worry less

Try not to put so much pressure on myself to be everything, prioritise my life.

Get around to decorating my house

Grow my blog and give it a makeover!

Try to rectify this situation a little...

What resolutions have you set?
